Career Services Director – Grand Junction Campus
“I think students are very impressed with the knowledge of the instructors, their personal education and training, and the support provided by all departments. We aren’t a typical college; we help our graduates find jobs and always have their backs.” – Pam Waterman

If you had to share a single piece of advice for prospective students, what would it be?
Potential employers want to hear you talk about your college success and accomplishments. This isn’t the time to be shy – be clear about who you are and what you offer.
Furthermore, what life or career advice would you offer to students about to graduate?
Don’t give up! Persistence is the key. If you pound the pavement, going after what you want, you’ll eventually find the job you want. You’ll come across many closed doors, but it’s how you react to the door that can set you apart from other job-seekers.
How do you motivate students who are struggling with the job search?
Put simply, I just keep bugging them. I’m on the phone, offering words of encouragement, reminding them that they are our customers and our job is to get them working. Period. That means anything we can do, from reviewing and polishing resumes, conducting mock interviews and providing employer contacts.
Have you faced a difficult or challenging time in your life? If so, how did you resolve the issue?
With a little faith and recognizing the importance of taking it one day at a time.
