Press Release – For Immediate Release
Colorado Springs, Colorado – A group of students from IntelliTec College’s Personal Trainer Program took and passed NASM’s Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) Credential exam on November 6th. This Credential can give the students a head start in the industry. This success marks the first of three opportunities to achieve an NASM fitness credential at IntelliTec. These students make up the first class to enroll in the new Personal Trainer Program at IntelliTec College. They are due to graduate with their Associates of Occupational Studies Degree in April 2013.
The Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) Credential Exam is put together by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Students took a preparation course for this exam and attended optional study sessions offered on Fridays. They learned about Macronutrient Profiling, bioenergetics, metabolism and resting metabolic rate, the law of thermodynamics (calories and calories out) and the rules of nutrient timing for optimal recovery.
Program Supervisor Chip Huss explains, “This knowledge enables students to intelligently discuss healthy eating (with clients), not dieting!”
Most gyms will pay more for a personal trainer holding an “advanced credential”. This added expertise in nutritional knowledge enables personal trainers to help their clients achieve healthy and lasting results.
There are currently 42 students in the Personal Trainer program at IntelliTec College in Colorado Springs. Chip Huss says, “The energy and camaraderie is one of the highlights. We have a very diverse set of ages and differences, but the big picture is “the guiding light” and everyone seems to be encouraging and supportive of each other.”[boilerplate about-colo-springs]
