Never bring up politics during a job interview; unless of course, you are interviewing for a position for one of the national political parties. Your political view could make or break your chances of getting that job. Yes, the political scene is a hot topic and your opinions are valid, but your political affiliation is not a determiner regarding whether or not you can perform on the job.
Hey! What if the employer asks me about my political interests?
Good question…Your political interests are not relevant to whether or not you are competent enough to perform the job; much the same way that the color of your skin is not relevant to whether or not you can perform. The difference is that you are protected on the basis of color, race, and/or sex. You are not protected based on your political stance, so don’t let the conversation go that direction.
You need the job. You want the job. Never let politics determine whether or not you get the job.
