Press Release – for Immediate Release
Pueblo, Colorado – IntelliTec College brings its 15-month Automotive Technician program to Pueblo. The program awards an associate degree (occupational) and trains students hands-on in a real-world environment with Snap-On tools and experienced instructors. In addition, students are prepared to take industry certification exams. Open enrollment has just begun for the start of the July 9th session.
The accelerated Automotive Technician degree program consists of 12 courses completed in 10 six-week terms, which are designed to prepare students to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification examinations. According to Program Supervisor, Anton Floyd, this program offers “the advantage of being the fastest route to an Automotive Associates degree in the area.”
The automotive program puts students on track to becoming entry-level automotive technicians. Those who enjoy tinkering with machines and are interested in understanding how they work can excel in IntelliTec’s Automotive Technician program.
IntelliTec’s automotive training facility in located just a few miles west of the IntelliTec College of Pueblo main campus. The building is a newly renovated, former automotive dealership. It has been redesigned to feature classrooms that are spacious and equipped to promote interactive learning.
The job outlook for automotive technicians is growing as job openings are being created by retiring technicians. These auto mechanic jobs are needed at a local level and cannot be sent overseas. This will keep the automotive technician industry going for as long as there are automobiles in need of service. However, Program Supervisor Anton Floyd asserts “it takes ambition, professionalism and a solid education to succeed in today’s competitive job market.”
Students receive a basic set of quality Snap-on tools upon graduation from the program, which are theirs to keep and use as a head-start on the tools they need as they enter the workforce. This is an advantage for students since Snap-on tools have a lifetime warranty, and other tools don’t always have that guarantee.
Instructors were chosen for their advanced levels of knowledge, skills and connections to the automotive industry. Floyd says “IntelliTec’s instructors have varied backgrounds, reflecting the variety of experiences they have had working within the automotive industry. This benefits the students by giving them a live, real-world role model in each classroom. [Our instructors] can give them a window into just how broad the industry really is.” Instructors use their knowledge and experience to supplement the curriculum and create a diverse and active learning environment, both in the classroom and in the lab.”[boilerplate about-pueblo]
