IntelliTec Cosmetology Student Volunteers Bring Glam & Glitz “Invite-Only” Prom Guests
Press Release – For Immediate Release
Pueblo, Colorado – Nearly 200 young adults from the Pueblo area enjoyed star treatment as they attended the very first “Night to Shine”, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation on February 12, 2016. This one night event, held in more than 200 churches across the U.S. and six countries worldwide, celebrated thousands of young adolescents with special needs. IntelliTec College of Pueblo brought their own special glam and glitz by designing elegant hairstyles and completing each fashionable look with a manicure for guests. The Family Worship Center Church hosted this memorable prom night experience at 3800 Parker Boulevard, Pueblo, CO from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Guests who registered for the event enjoyed royal treatment throughout the evening. Friendly paparazzi welcomed them, and VIP amenities such as limousine services, corsages and boutonnieres, hair, makeup, shoeshines, professional photography, food, dancing, games and more crafted a memorable night. The guests also participated in a crowning ceremony, where each individual received a crown or tiara. At the end of the evening, each guest received unique prom favors to take home.
Inspiring Evening Impacted Cosmetology Student Volunteers
Fourteen students from IntelliTec College of Pueblo’s Cosmetology program took time out of their busy schedules to provide free nail and make-up services.
“As many as 50 young ladies enjoyed the pampering, and it was clear that some of them had never experienced salon services, so it was a special moment for them,” observed Rachel Campbell, cosmetology instructor at IntelliTec College.
Volunteers set up the on-site salon at 5:30 p.m. and styled trendy waves and updos and polished nails to coordinate with guests’ prom dresses from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at The Family Worship Center.
However, as excited as the clients were, the volunteering students were touched to be part of such an incredible evening. “Students made connections with their clients that evening. It was clear this was more than just an opportunity to provide services for a special group of people,” observed Campbell.
About the Tim Tebow Foundation
The Tim Tebow Foundation established “Night to Shine” in the hopes that the event would “change the face of Valentine’s Day weekend from simply a celebration of love, to a celebration of God’s love for people with special needs,” according to Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation. The organization’s members have a real heart for people with special needs, and want others to recognize just how amazing these people are, and that they are all kings and queens in God’s eyes.
