Five Colorado Auto Repair Shops Compete & Fix Cars for Free to Benefit Locals in Need
Press Release – For Immediate Release
Colorado Springs, CO – IntelliTec College in Colorado Springs is a proud sponsor of this year’s Auto Bowl ’15 event. The event is designed to assist deserving individuals, families or charitable organizations with free automotive repair. The three-hour competition will be held this Sunday, October 25th, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at three Colorado Springs-area automotive repair shops, as well as at two other locations along the Front Range.
Five IntelliTec College Automotive Technician instructors will judge the competition, and the College will award 3 college scholarships. The event will be televised on KRDO Channel 13 on December 13th and 20th.
How Does the Auto Bowl Work?
Auto Bowl is a friendly competition between professional automotive repair shops along the Front Range of Colorado and will assist deserving individuals, families or charitable organizations with free automotive repairs or a donated vehicle. Each shop participating in the competition is required to provide a quality used car to be given away, upon completion, to a cause or individual of their choice.
IntelliTec to Judge the Event and Award College Scholarships to Top Three Teams
Scholarships will be awarded via a merit-based drawing to three businesses. The IntelliTec College “referees” will determine merit, and the criteria include: speed, workmanship, teamwork, attitude, safety and amount of successfully completed repair tasks.
“What is so exciting for the automotive shops is that they get to choose whom to extend the scholarship to – one of their own employees, or to award it to an external individual they deem worthy. It’s completely up to them,” states Stacey Snyder, Associate Vice President of Admissions & Marketing at IntelliTec College in Colorado Springs.
The Automotive Technician scholarship amounts will be awarded as follows:
1st Place – $20,000
2nd Place – $15,000
3rd Place – $10,000
Cory Woerth, Automotive Technician Program Supervisor at IntelliTec College – and one of the volunteer referees for the Auto Bowl – states, “These type of events are really a win-win. Not only do the recipients truly appreciate having their cars repaired at no cost, but employees feel honored to provide a much-needed service for their community.”
Additional volunteer referees include IntelliTec College instructors Frank Gardner, Zach Bernal, Dave Gorman and Byron Buff from the Automotive Technician program in Colorado Springs.
