Press Release – For Immediate Release
Colorado – IntelliTec College answered the Ice Bucket Challenge with a number of staff members receiving an ice cold drenching in support of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Administrators and teachers from Colorado Springs, Grand Junction and Pueblo campuses stepped up to the challenge in support of this neurodegenerative disease.
“This was an opportunity to support a good cause, but more importantly to me, it was an opportunity to have fun as a team. After I was challenged, I in turn challenged others to join me; most did! That’s what I call team support!” asserts Dr. David Scott, Campus Director at IntelliTec College in Grand Junction. https://www.facebook.com/pages/IntelliTec-College-Grand-Junction-Campus/262270505951
The challenge spread like wildfire, similar to the social media response. As departments began to both answer the challenge and challenge peers, it inspired other programs to come out in support of building awareness for ALS and other related diseases.
“I am a huge supporter of increased awareness to support the families affected by managing their loved ones and their painful progression in disorders like this,” illustrates Andreas Nilsson, Campus Director at IntelliTec College of Pueblo. https://www.facebook.com/pages/IntelliTec-College-Pueblo-Campus/259583217794. ALS, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It currently affects 30,000 people and strikes those between the ages of 40 and 70.
Supporting national or local causes is part of IntelliTec College. Staff and students contribute time and services to Head Start, Care and Share, and Goodwill plus contribute to individual community needs such as health fairs, the Boys and Girls Club, MYLIFE Foundation and the Pueblo Hispanic Educational Foundation. Responding to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is just one more way for IntelliTec to share their philanthropic side.
Ray Ada, Campus Director at IntelliTec College in Colorado Springs shares, “I would hope that the overall participation of faculty and staff members accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge will bring inspiration, education and awareness to others.” https://www.facebook.com/itccs.
