What does this mean to IntelliTec students?
Professional résumé assistance from individuals who can share the latest industry standards of excellence.
Joanie Johnston, Career Services Director at the Colorado Springs campus affirms, “All career service advisors at IntelliTec College are members of PARW/CC (The Professional Association of Résumé Writers and Career Coaches) and exhibit an on-going commitment to learning, exchanging ideas and information, and gaining the expertise to best help each student and graduate to achieve their personal career goals.”
Prior to 1990, one résumé service was pretty much the same as any other. Highly experienced résumé professionals had no way to distinguish their expertise from those who were less gifted and experienced. The PARW/CC developed a standard by which a résumé writer could be judged. Successfully passing each of the modules confirms the writer’s ability to help individuals develop professional résumés and cover letters.
Successful résumé writing requires a number of key elements:
- The résumé and cover letter should answer the question: “Why should the company hire me?
- There are no hard and fast rules! The one exception is that all documents must be error-free.
- When using acronyms, use both the long and abbreviated versions.
- Be consistent with punctuation, capitalization, spacing, etc.
- Ensure the “water mark” is face up when printing resumes.
- Proofread, proofread, proofread.
