A quick search the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics website for Automotive Technician revealed that the number one desired trait is actually customer service skills. Your “soft” skills, therefore, need to be a sharp as your technical abilities.
Look up your career field at www.bls.gov and research the desired traits for those jobs. You can also find information on Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com, as well as in the Help Wanted ads in the local newspaper. Take notes on the skills that employers are seeking. Think of an example of when you have applied each of the most desired skills towards your success and be ready to share your personal success stories in your next interview. Keep it brief!
