The Financial Services department is ready to help students reapply for financial aid for the 2013-2014 award year. The completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for all continuing students to determine that type of funding they will be eligible for in the 2013-2014 FAFSA year which runs from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
The type of funds students are eligible for is determined by the information provided on the FAFSA. Income information and the number of family members in the household are used in a federal calculation to determine the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to the student’s educational costs.
It is important that FAFSA applications be completed in a timely manner to ensure that students receive financial aid payments that they are entitled to. Delaying the completion of the application may lead to students paying out-of-pocket for some or all educational costs.
Although it is recommended that students and/ or parents have filed their 2012 taxes before applying, the application may be submitted with estimated income amounts and updated once taxes are complete It is also recommended for those who have electronically filed or mailed in their taxes prior to completing the application use the IRS data retrieval tool to have their tax information directly transmitted from the IRS website.
Financial Services is pleased to help you complete your 2013-2014 FAFSA application and recommends that you speak with a Financial Aid Representative prior to making an appointment to get a list of documents you will need to complete the application. Financial Services is available Monday through Thursday 8 am to 7 pm, and Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
