Who are you interviewing with? What do you know about the company? Where can you learn more about the company? How can you make a good impression and be prepared? What position are you applying for and will you have the skills and knowledge to do a good job?
These are some of the “homework” questions you should answer before going to any interview.
Mary, Tom and Betty all had an interview at Medical Office K. This office had only used nurses in the past. It was exciting to think that whoever got the job would be the first Medical Assistant to work in that practice.
All three were prepared, their resumes were perfect, and they all had good references. Who got the job? Mary. Mary not only worked closely with her Director of Career Services, she also made the time to come into the school and “google” Medical Practice K.
She memorized their mission statement, their goals, how many employees they had, and what type of practice they were, and used this information in the interview. She impressed the interview team and they offered her the job!
Moral: do your homework to come out ahead.
This is a true story, and “Mary” is now making $18.50 per hour plus benefits. This is the highest entry-level pay Career Services has ever seen!
