"Never give up on your dreams. Once you complete our personal training program you'll have the skills needed to be successful; then it's your turn to put them to use. Also, never stop learning and NEVER think you know it all."

Get to know Peggy...

  • Share something unique about yourself you believe might help a student get to know you outside of school. My two hobbies are auto racing and bowling. No matter how badly I bowl or how poorly the car performs on the track, I ALWAYS leave with a smile on my face, and itching for the next game or race to come.
  • What led you to this program of study? As an athlete in high school, I spent many hours training during the on- and off-season. I loved the energy I felt while in the gym. A lot of my peers started asking to train with me, and I got personal satisfaction watching them succeed. It was then I knew this was the path I wanted to take.
  • What is it about this career field you enjoy so much? The health and fitness industry is constantly changing, benefitting the client in every way. This allows personal trainers the opportunity to grow and learn, which in turn prevents boredom or repetition from sneaking in. I also love how my clients gain confidence after each session; there’s something self-affirming about gaining strength as you get fit.
  • What would you tell a student who was on the fence about attending a program of study in your department at IntelliTec? If you have even the smallest interest in living a healthy lifestyle, this program is for you. Think about it: you'll get the tools you need to be successful professionally, you'll probably get in great shape while your completing your program and certification, and to top it off, you'll end up changing other's lives.

"I have a great passion for figuring out how the body moves and responds to external stimulus. And it’s exciting to know there are enormous opportunities available in this field of study."

Get to know Sean...

  • Is it important to share your own failures/successes with students? Absolutely! Teaching is about being real, creating real moments with students as individuals. And in order to do this, they need to know their teachers have faced their own struggles before finding success.
  • What are some of the rewards working as a personal trainer? The biggest rewards come from clients who have experienced even the littlest success. They are so grateful for everything I’ve done to help, but the real work came from them. I may teach them about motivation, but the motivation has to come from them in order to see results.
  • How will you motivate students who might be struggling with their personal training classes? I think honesty is the key to get them to realize you’re truly invested in their goals. Put the content in a real context so they learn not just “what” but “why.” Once they recognize how it all makes sense, the pieces of the puzzle start to come together.
  • What would you identify as the key to success in the personal training career field? Without a doubt, motivation. Those entering this field have to first conquer their own motivation struggles. Once they personally understand how remaining motivated is a real struggle, they’ll be more successful working with clients who face their own motivational issues.
