We'd like to introduce you to our Massage Therapist Program Supervisors

Kathy Reid

Program Supervisor
Massage Therapist

Grand Junction Campus

"It's important to establish trust between teacher and student and even among student peers. Since our program can often be emotional, I want everyone to feel we create a place with no judgment."

Read below to learn a little about why Kathy is so passionate about her program.

Get to know Kathy...

  • What is it about this career field you enjoy so much? I love helping other people. I like the challenge of helping people work through soreness, stress, and injuries with a caring touch.
  • What led you to this program? I received a Reiki treatment in 2000. The healing was so profound that it created a longing in me to seek a path of healing.
  • Please share a memorable moment you’ve experienced at IntelliTec. One of my favorite moments that I get to witness time and time again, is the expression on a student’s face after they come out of the clinic massage room for the first time having given their first private and professional massage. It is very satisfying to the client, the student massage therapist, and to me as well.
  • If you had to share a single piece of advice for prospective students in your department, what would it be? Every second counts. Make the most of every minute in school. After accumulating a year’s worth of knowledge and training, taking (and passing) a professional licensing exam, you’ll go on to use everything you have just learned in your massage business. It is all important.

"I strive to use engaging teaching techniques, particularly visual and kinesthetic learning tools. This helps teach to different learning styles. It’s important to find a variety of ways to get information across to students."

Kristina understands every student has different needs and does her best to help resolve problems and offer advice.

Get to know Kristina...

  • What advice would you give to a struggling student? I would ask them to make a list of what is troubling them and work with them to determine which issues can be resolved with various resources. I’ve shared a number of their struggles so I feel I can completely relate and can hopefully provide support. Often times the problems are manageable, but when you’re in it, they feel insurmountable.
  • Please share a memorable moment/success story you’ve experienced at IntelliTec. One of my most rewarding experiences was when I attended my first graduation ceremony and watched my students walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. I loved seeing them grow from that nervous, new student to the confident and proud graduate.
  • If you had to share a single piece of advice for prospective students in your department, what would it be? They should know that the work they do as a massage therapist is extremely rewarding. Not many other professions can offer the ability to change someone’s life for the better as massage therapy can.
  • Furthermore, what life or career advice would you offer to students about to graduate? You need to know education does not stop at graduation. You should always be learning and growing. There are so many different directions your career can take you, and knowledge is the best way to get there!
