We'd like to introduce you to our Computer & Network Systems Technician Program Supervisor

Rick Butler

Program Supervisor
Computer & Network Systems Technician

Rick Butler photo

With over 22 years as a professional in the IT Industry, Rick brings more than just wide-ranging and extensive knowledge to the table, but the desire to grow students into thriving professionals in an industry rife with possibilities.

He believes if you truly want to succeed in the industry and learn the skills necessary to grow, then you will find a place at IntelliTec.

Get to know Rick...

  • What is it about this career field you enjoy so much? It's progressive; it continually changes with new things every day and the fact that professional growth is completely dependent on the individual's desire.
  • How would you describe your role as a program supervisor? I try to create an "unschool" school since our students do a tremendous amount of learning during their lab interactions. This practical ability allows them to see things and not feel stifled in their education. Also, I enjoy spending time mentoring students and talking with them so I really get to know who they are in and out of school.
  • If you had to share a single piece of advice for prospective students in your department, what would it be? Think about what you're learning as skills toward building your career rather than just grades toward your diploma. If you focus on what you're learning, the grades will come and furthermore, you'll be prepared for your future.
  • Furthermore, what life or career advice would you offer to students about to graduate? Finish what you start. Certify. Keep learning and keep your 18-month plan constantly updated. Know your goals and proceed through with the end in mind.
