"The Pharmacy Technician program is brand new to IntelliTec, and it's been a pleasure working with such a supportive staff. It's pretty exciting determining the most important content information to include in the curriculum. I can't wait to share with students my knowledge and passion for such a rewarding career."

Get to know Allison

  • What led you to this program of study? Growing up, my mom was a pharmacy technician at the VA hospital. I used to visit her at work and I was fascinated by what went on in the pharmacy. I got my first job as a pharmacy cashier at Osco Drug when I was 19 years old and I loved it. I became a pharmacy technician four years later and have never looked back.
  • How would you motivate a struggling student? With a lot of support and encouragement. This is a career field that requires meticulous skills with no room for errors; lives are on the line here. That pressure can sometimes create insecurities in students, and I try to determine where and when a student’s self-doubt began. If I have to review the basics again, then that’s what I do.
  • What would you tell a student who was on the fence about attending a program of study in your department at IntelliTec? If you are a people person and are interested in healthcare, becoming a pharmacy technician is a very rewarding career. You will be a highly respected member of your community while having a career that offers stability, flexibility, and career growth. You will be making a difference in the lives of your patients while experiencing the exciting changes that are constantly occurring in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • As a brand new member of the IntelliTec staff, what is your impression so far? I love this job. I love coming to work every day. There is a real sense of family and community here. It makes me feel really good that we have support systems in place to assist our students so that they can focus on getting a good education. I am excited about making a difference in the lives of my students so that they can go on and make a difference in the lives of their patients.
