We'd like to introduce you to our Cosmetologist Program Supervisors

Callie Lambros

Program Supervisor

Grand Junction Campus

Callie Lambros photo

"My goal for every student who crosses my path is that by graduation they know at least as much as I do and hopefully more."

Callie recognizes life's not always smooth sailing, but if you do your best to not get stranded by the negatives, you'll reach the shores with your head held high.

Get to know Callie...

  • What is it about this career field you enjoy so much? I'm passionate about cosmetology and education and welcome the constant industry changes. Furthermore, I love coaching and mentoring students and watching them develop personally and professionally.
  • Share something unique about yourself you believe might help a student get to know you outside of school. Life hasn't always been easy. I completely empathize with our students' struggles, but I also believe everyone has the ability to overcome life's challenges and be successful.
  • How do you motivate a student who might be struggling with academic and/or personal issues? I feel like I wear a lot of different hats here: teacher, life coach, and counselor. When a student faces a roadblock, I try to take them back to the beginning of their journey by asking questions like: 'Why are you here?', 'What do you want from your education?', and 'What's the big picture?' I help them break down their bigger goals into manageable daily goals. Then life's not so scary.
  • If you had to share some advice for prospective students in your department, what would it be? Be here and be present and know IntelliTec offers a safe/strong place to learn; take advantage of that. Also, you'll find greater success if you set your sights on becoming more than a talented hair stylist but a person of integrity in all ways. This will provide options in this industry that can take you anywhere you can see yourself.

"Once I learn how each student processes information, I adapt my teaching style to accommodate each specific intellect. Then I can paint a picture based on their experiences, focusing on how they learn best."

"I really want my students to absorb the knowledge for life, not just for now."

Get to know Peggy...

  • Do you have a teaching philosophy? Most definitely. I believe “perfect practice makes perfect repetition.” I don't really buy into the old adage of “practice makes perfect” because that's just a recipe for failure. But if your goal is to approach learning as an art and a science, you'll find the repetition allows for creativity and expression once you've mastered the basics.
  • What life or career advice would you offer to students about to graduate? Don't be afraid to ask questions, take chances, or challenge yourself; you only grow and learn if you're out of your comfort zone!
  • Please share a memorable moment/success story you've experienced at IntelliTec. Every day is a success story if you have the right outlook. I enjoy watching a new student grow and gain skills and confidence, helping students set goals and then watching them achieve and celebrate them!
  • What motivates you to work in the education field? Honestly, it's truly a selfish thing because it's addictive and gratifying. This is what I LOVE to do – I have a total passion for it. I live it, breathe it and sleep it, and if you're lucky enough to get paid for a job you're so passionate about, then it's not really even a job is it?!
